Do you NEED the internet to install??

ok so i get hl2 and it installs steam. now when HL2 is finished installing it says i need an internet connection which i dont have (im at the library at the moment)... is there ANY way whatsoever to get around that?? like so you dont have to have the internet for ANYTHING with it...?? please reply soon

Yep, you must be connected to unlock the game.
