Do you need to buy the Xbox remote control and reciever to view DVDs on the Xbox?

My friend has a PS2 and says you can use the controllers to select options on the DVD.
But for the Xbox, do you need a remote control and the reciever?
Or can I just use the controllers like the PS2?

No, for an xbox you have to buy a remote control, ya like old Bill needs anymore money.
It was 50 bucks canadian when I bought it, but I'm sure its around 20 bucks now.

(on the plus side, using a remote is far easier than using a joypad ......... and will be worth price for convinience alone)
