While thinking about what JC did at QuakeCon (polling the audience to see if they have an HDTV or not), I think it would be smart to do the same here.

Reason being we can find out just how many people own one, so we can see if there is a huge market for X360 and PS3... I'm just curious :)

I do. I own two of them.

*edit* Oh, and don't complain about me not having a "I will get one soon" option... It's either you have one or ya don't. Plans change as always, and you may find that tuning your current TV will be cheaper than buying a new HDTV.

No hdtv, I wan't one tho. :(
Aren't they gonna become mandatory in 2006? (as in no more regular broadcasting)

i highly highly HIGHLY doubt it.

Nein. HIiiiiiiiiii teta bonita

No, in 2007 all cable providers must broadcast ONLY in digital format. This has nothing to do with HD formats or anything. You will get a quality increase, but of course the cable providers aren't forced to broadcast in HD yet...

Analog is finally going bye-bye :)

Which means if you have an older TV, you might have to buy a converter.... I suggest just buying an HDTV though cause serious... That TV is too old if it doesn't understand digital :P

*edit* Hmmm, it seems the "I do NOT own an HDTV" people are becoming the majority here.

i honestly dont even know what HDTV is apart from "high definition" and that everything is basicaly 1 gagilion times better.

You guys with two of them damn HDTVs, can't you donate one to a poor Swedish student?:D

Bah, tell your Uni that you need to do a research project and you need to take it back to your dorm :P lol

Well I have a videoprojector and a 2m screen, does that count as HDTV (it can do 720p and 1080i resolutions)?

There is one 21" six year old TV in my house. I can't afford one and my parents don't give a damn about TV.

i have a hdtv but my parents are always watching it so i wont be able to use it for gaming

I have the tuner (brand new from my cable company), but not the television.

Yup that counts.

Nope that doesn't count :( That's just a HD digital cable converter... Your TV still can't natively do HD video and input... It scales down everything to get it to play on your TV (thus it goes from an HD format, to a lower quality format to make it work on your TV)

That's like winning the jackpot in the lottery but only getting $.10 USD after taxes.

lol yea that's one way to put it.

Oh and holy cow, there aren't a whole lot of people so far who have HDTV's...

30% own HDTV's? No wonder M$ is trying to push the market! Once you get an HDTV, you will never go back. :P

I feel bad for those of you who have the HD converters... M$ is raving about how the image quality will be so amazing, but when you people hook it up, it won't be so good. :(

Come to my house and we'll party HD style!

Ain't got one, but then again, I hardly ever use my TV... Nor does my ego demand that I get a bigger one...

What does this have to do with games?

Everything!!!!11 according to Microsoft. They're trumpeting Xbox 360 as the "beginning of the HD era".

In fact most of E3 was taken up with a willy-waving contest between MS and Sony, about whose console can pump teh 1337est resolution, or has the most HD ports stuffed on the back

I bet so many people will lie in this poll. Of everyone I know in real life, none of them own an HDTV, and they don't even have a clue what they are, and don't care either. I know a large amount of people...

Yup, pretty much.

M$ and Sony are all going on about "Oh man, we have all this great HD stuff we will revolutionize the world!!!!" but the question is.... Do a lot of people even have HDTV's... As apparent by the poll, a LOT don't, thus will anyone see a huge advantage with their TV's? No.

However once you go HDTV, expect a lot sharper graphics... Perhaps M$ and Sony will start fueling the price drop of HDTV's so that they get more mainstream.

Your going to find this hard to belive but we just bought an HDTV last night to replace our old broken one upstairs...lol nice timing with the thread

I don't watch TV, nothing good on. So no point for me buying and expensive one and have its large screen collect dust.

HBO, Comedy Central, and FX......my life = complete.
if($life == complete){Echo("IM HAPPY!!");}

I thought HDTVs cost, like, thousands?

How come so many lucky buggers here have got one? (or two) :O
