Do you think my specs can compete with new games?

My computer is abit outdated to say the least, and it might be a while until I get a new one (or until I upgrade, which is probably going to happen soon anyways) I was just wondering what you guys thought, comparing my pc to the current general game specs...

AMD Athlon 1.4ghz
512mb DDR RAM
GeForce 2mx 32mb
SB Live!

Im hoping it will run HL2 smoothly at a reasonable resolution.

Yeah, i just checked and it is a Geforce 2mx AGP. And my ram is 256mb SDR RAM 2x (which is 512) but my computer reads it at 524mb. What is the cheapest card I can get that will have the current games running smoothly?

The CPU is really a bottleneck, so you really cant get a top of the line card. 9600 pro is reccommended.

I would say the bottleneck is definatly the vid card, thats alwayse the essential component. I would say a 9600pro should take you up to speed, but if money is tight wait for the new games to come out. prices have to drop again by then.

if you shop around you can get a 9600 pro for about 130£
and its an amazing card!
