This is just a little thread I made, it is just a question I wanted to ask people.

As for me, I do believe they have not runied my life but they have changed it minorly...

The last thing we need is another pot thread. ;)

Videogames ruined my life? Not at all, if anything, the hours I've spent gaming are going down.

I do know someone who lost his job and got kicked out of the house he was living in because he couldn't stop playing Everquest.

Yes, yes thay have.

All i do is play tons and tons of games. AND I LOVE IT!!!!

Well...they've affected my grades a bit.

...but I've never ignored a girl/turned down sex in order to play video games, so I believe I'm still in very firm control of myself.

they've done some damage, but i still had good marks, made it into uni and had a very good social life.

I CANT TAKE IT!!! there so addictive i dun even have enough memory to play good games (256 ram) but i still play them i cant help it im up to 5am on skool nights playing non stop :( but i love them i no im a nerd but i love em :D but as dat uda guy sed ... neva turned down sex for games so FALSE ALARM ... but gordon dose look striking in that H.E.V suit :D

I can't say that video games have taken over my life, but it has influenced me quite a lot in many ways.

They have been a part of me since I was 2 years old so I never really had a chance to see a before and after playing video games version of me. I really don't have a clue if they hurt me or not. Heck they may have even helped me in some way.

:dozey: I'd say at one point videogames disrupted some moments in the past. Now, i'm good... getting on the right track. I play videogames on the lesser side now, dunno if I miss em' or not.

Im actually losing my intrest in games...i would like to feel the same passion i felt a few years ago...

Somewhat..

But as a family we have it integrated into our rutines.
We each have a PC, we play in the evening (almost every evening), the Son plays Rome total war ATM, i play CS almost always, the wife plays Civ3, and some time we LAN up and beat the crap out of each other.
We watch TV 1. a week i think, its all surf, games, and Chat with each other. I love the Tech age...We live in a 2 floor apartment, so instead of trying to out scream Opeth and what ever crap the kid leasons too, i can just beep him on messenger and say "foods up", or
check the volume on the crap u r filthying ur brain with.... or simply "who´s ur daddy".....

You have the coolest family ever ;)

Haha, agreed. I have brothers like that, they raised me with Amiga and C64 from an early age, I simply love 'em.

I dont think they have. They havnt helped in the past. But I am generally more responsible now and manage to do everything else as well as enjoy games occasionally. :)

Games are a fantastic distraction from the stresses of everyday life. I wouldnt give them up for anything. Well... allmost anything. :)

Heck no, I might play them a lot sometimes then I can go for ages without, do other stuff, go out, try remember what the big yellow ball thing in the sky is, then maybe come back to them months later and enjoy them again. Certainly not addicted, even my favorite game morrowind barely gets touched these days, few months i'll probably be hooked on it again, who really knows, who really cares, I don't, im too busy posting in threads like this for fun.

well games haven't taken over my life so i voted no. But I use computers way too much.

I rarely play any video games now'n days.

Only thing I play is Tribes and DOD somtimes.

HL2 dominated me for 3 days

but then i got over it after completing it ! and now i lsot all interest in video games because cs was my staple diet but Sauce sucks so i basically quit out :p

Want World Of Warcraft tho :)

MMORPGS and Star Wars have taken over my life.

I haven't been a gamer that long, so we'll see eh :p
Don't listen to his lies! It's just a well thought out plan to trick people into playing Op4DM with him without realising what he does to people in there.

Evil I tells ya, EEEEVIL!

yeah, those consoles were great. When i showed my uncle my new pc he started a big rant about how his first computer only had 6mb ram.

Pffft - you've never lived.
Kidding. No, really.
I was wondering how many hours of my life have been "lost" to gaming, although I'm not entirely sure I want to know.
At the end of the day, people wouldn't really look down on you for watching a DVD on your own - a PC game isn't so different in terms of it being a solitary pursuit. Especially seeing as more and more games want to resemble the next level of becoming a cinematic experience.

Nah games have'nt taken over my life, they just help to fill in the empty parts of life. Girlfriend. Sex. Pubs. Games. Sorted! :p

bah! my first had 48k, and the games were still better

*smokes his pipe and remembers the old days*

They haven't taken over my life and ruined it, but they are the major part of entertainment in my life. I still have friends and school.
EDIT: I like to read, too.

most games are pretty boring. only game I have played for the past few years is CS. Before that Caesar III, and before that, Duke 3D. So, no I'm not much into games and rarely play them. I don't have a PS2 or anything. Only a PS1 with 3 games, and an SNES with 2 games, and a gameboy with 3 games (got it for $20 :D ). When I was younger, I was into games much more but as the years pass, my interest is slowly slipping away. However, I'm really interested in the new PSP.

I go to schoo, come home, play games for 8 hours, repeat

So my answer is yes.

Pfft...uh, no. Games are just entertainment that I play when I'm boa-oh snap! I just moved up in my World Of Warcraft server queue! AHAHAHAHA! Yeeeeeeeeeee!

Uh. Where was I?
