Doctor Censured For Giving Medical Advice

Its about 250 pounds

"But he says that he has already sent the patient an apology"
Wtf for? He was trying to help her live longer ><

I read about this the other day from another site, and they didn't mention this part:
Her husband was also obese, he said, and would probably die before her, and given her weight she would have problems finding another man.
Telling her she is obese is one thing, but saying that she won't find another man because she's too fat, is another. That's not professional conduct and I can see why she'd complain.

that was brought up in my medical school class yesterday. wow, that's complete bullsh*t. Hopefully if i graduate, I will try not to sugarcoat my patients. I'll tell them straightup if they have habits they need to change. She reported the doc to the state board. she ought to be slapped upside the head for that.

Adidajs....maybe you didnt read it all.
Her husband was also obese, he said, and would probably die before her, and given her weight she would have problems finding another man.
The doctor is basically saying, your fat and no one likes fat chicks....... I think that the lady has a right to be angry.

He was telling her the truth, and gave her a good life advice. If a doctor told someone with AIDS, "Companies, particularly in food handling, will probably be wary or simply not hire you due to your infection" he is telling the truth, and that's basically the same situation you've got going on here. I wish all doctors would elaborate on the real life situations/consequences of conditions or injuries you receive.

If anything it was another reason for her to take his advice and lose weight.

Tis no insult to say a fat person is fat. As long as it's done respectfully.

Imagine what would have happened if he had said "Save the whales, harpoon a fat chick"
