Ok so what good documentaries have you seen about certain countries, and what's a good nugget of info you learnt. The most recent TV program I watched was about the US(aint they all) And it was called "American Coloussus"

http://www.channel4.com/history/microsites/H/history/heads/library/american.html

It was very well done, and basically looked at the history of the US and what it has done right and what it got wrong.

Some intresting facts I learnt were "In 8 years time the population of old people in America will double, while the amount of people that will put in taxes will hardly increase putting a major strain on the economy increasing the defecit to 45trillion $"

(Don't know if that is accurate)

People from America go visit the vietcong for tours of the foxholes the vietcong used.

Now try to keep this thread clean ;)

The pensions situation is not unique to the US. Many countries in Europe, including the UK, are also going to suffer from this problem. The only way around it will be to raise the pensionable age from 65 to 75 or even 80. Face it, when we're 65, we'll be fitter and stronger than our peers.

Doesn't the US system of government take many of its cues from the Roman Empire?
