I'm sorry if this has been thrashed, or I've blindly missed the answer, but I've searched these (and other) forums unsuccessfully, so now I'm posting :)

Every time I try to start my own DoD server (just to practice w/bots) Half Life completely crashes. I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem/knows how to fix it.

PS: The cause (according to the debugger) is an unhandled exception.

did you make sure that the steam.exe is not running in compatibility mode?
that fixed up my problems.

When you say in compatibility mode, do mean like how you can run programs under Win98 conditions for example? If so, I don't have it running under any conditions like that.

yes exactly

however... Im getting this problem now too (I checked) must have been a new "feature" in the latest steam patch :P
I will let ya know if I find a fix.

nevermind, the cause of the problem was a steam patch that was meant to correct some issues, instead it caused crashes... it has since been recalled, and the problem is gone.

however remember to check your settings, and correct the RATE since it defaults to modem (which will cause you bad lag)

Okay, I think I might've found the problem...I had a launch parameter (for Sturmbot 1.6), and after uninstalling steam, and re-installing steam, updating steam (and removing the parameter) it worked :) *takes breath*

I'm gonna reinstall Sturmbot now, and get the parameter in again to test everything out, because I had it in right.
