1. Has it been announced who can be in the upcoming beta? any speculations?

2. Someone at valve said: "It will be a 95% straight port." what do you think the 5% new content will be? personally I'm hoping it's a new objective gametype ..but dont know if that would fit into the 5%

3. I wonder what kind of physics? HL2: DM or CS:S?

4. Did the model's get a remake at the level of CS:S, stayed the same like HL: S, or look great and are at the same level of HL2?

5. Do they have plans on updating over time like CS:S or release it completely finished?

I remember reading a lot of these answers from devs at the DoD forums...

CptStern:

1) Not a clue if the beta will even be for the public, they said it will be going into beta soon, but they never said if it will include us... It's sorta obvious though if it is a public beta, only those with the Silver/Gold packages... No common retail/bronze package and maybe the collectors edition (I didn't see it included in the 'whats included' portion saying "DoD:S When Released")

2) They meant like it will be mostly like HL1 version, with updated graphics and such, they aren't adding new gametypes just yet

lordoftheroot:

3) HL2DM and CS:S use same physics engine... It will probably be used more like CS:S though because you won't use a gravity gun to pick up objects and such... but it will be enough props to make the map more believable

4) Not sure about the models, I know they are planning on it, not sure if they are going to for the first release... They said if they don't get them out they will eventually replace them

5) Of course they are going to update it with new content!!! :P Heck the reason there hasn't been much progress is because a lot of the team was working on CS:S and HL2 and such... Now they are getting back into the DoD way of life :)

Aight thats the extent of my limited knowledge... Seroiusly go check the DoD forums for like 200 more answers directly from the devs....

What i think he means that, in css the physicsengine is "distorted", if you for example hop up onto a barrel you will noclip thru it, and be pushed away, while in hl2dm you can stand on top of it.
