Hey guys! I have been a lurker here finding info tons of times but never posted. Now I am at a loss and maybe one of you brainiacs can help.

I have been playing CS:S ever since I bought HL2. Loved the game and played it a ton. I even DLed DoD:S when it came out and played it but it was pretty buggy and I finally gave up.

Lately I have been wanting to play CS:S and DoD:S and I have had some serious problems with them both. I find a server that is low ping...get into the game and as soon as i spawn I run 10 feet and freeze up. This happens every time.

I tried to turn off my sound acceleration like Valves site said but it didnt work...I am at a loss as to how to fix this.

Any advice would be sincerely appreciated...I am not very computer literate so talk slow :)

Haha, I knew it :D

Try removing your Sound card from your computer and then try again. Audigy cards are reported to cause problems sometimes.

By the way, if you don't know much about computers (rather, their insides), I suggest you get someone who does unless you want yourself killed. Having the problem fixed isn't going to do you any good if you're dead, eh :p

LOL! Very good advice Beerdude :) I was the one who put my geforce in so I am good enough to live through opening her up...barely!

I will try taking out my soundcard as you recommended. It seems strange that I would be able to play the game for a year and then it craps out. BF2 plays fine still....so does every other game. Is my driver out of date maybe? I will first try the removing the sound card then if that is it I will search for new drivers.

Thanks again Sir!

HL2 has issues with Creative soundcards. Don't ask me why though :p

Sup fellow SB Audigy 2 ZS owner. I have the freezing as well, regardless if I have the sounds enabled or even the sound card attached. So... it's not the sounds.

Have you tried swapping the RAM slots (if you have 2 RAM sticks) ?

Actually I Downloaded the most recent drivers for the SB and it works now. Give that a shot :)

Try killing yourself, I recommend it personally.
