does anyone know what to do when you cannot sleep?

Make a cup of tea, but without the teabag (sweet hot milk) - it's the best thing to get you to sleep. It's a natural sleep-enducing thing.

I just face one way and try to blank everything, usually works if I keep a steady rate of breathing
 
If peeling one off doesn't work, read a book. If it doesn't put you to sleep, it can be very relaxing so when it occurs to you that it's 6am and you should be getting ready for the next day, at least you're somewhat rested.
