Why in the picture are some files blue and some not.It does this only in the valve folder. Is valve getting color coordinated now? anyone else see this or is it just my pc?

Blue means that the file has been compressed by windows. Somewhere along the line windows has been told to compress your Steam folder.

Well, no I suppose it isn't since you would expect performance drops, especially with things like level load times.
The good news is, hard drive space permitting (check first), that it is easy to correct. Right hand click on your steam folder -> Properties -> Advanced -> Uncheck "Compress contents to save disk space" and "Ok" out.

Wow. Um... delete all the STEAM__WHATEVER.MDMP files. They're just memory dumps from game crashes.

Anyhow, the Windows compression thing isn't bad - it's handled seamlessly when an app accesses the file. Don't worry about it.

The simplest way to get around that is to check it "Ok" out, then uncheck it.
