I'm looking into breaking into some serious painting of models and such. I did some shit warhammer models back in the day, but now I want to take a more serious crack at it. But i am having trouble finding sites that sell decent models and paints. I found a DVD that looks to have a really good tutorial and I want to start off with the materials to allow me to follow it easily.

I want a model similar to that scale to make it easier to paint (warhammer models were a major bitch because of their size for me). I want something decent, but not expensive or super high quality because, being my first attempt, i will destroy it. So anyone know what the good brands/companies/websites are for this field of art? I can't really go to any hobby shop because I live in louisiana and there is no civilized society within acceptable driving distance of where I live.

Also, check this bitch out:

So awesome.

I used to do some seriously kickass Warhammer 40k and normal Warhammer (Night/Dark Elves, cant even remember), consisting of Tyranids (only a few), Space Wolves and Dwarves.

I made a Tyranid Lictor and still have it in the loft in my warhammer box, I painted that bitch so perfectly. I also made a Space Wolves character, cant remember his name, big beard and he had an axe and bolter, spent WEEKS painting him. Drybrushing, making sure the paint was the perfect consistency, layering it all correctly.

I always found it really calming when painting, its a shame I left it all behind me when I turned...15? ish.

I do from time to time, but I more so touch up crappy painted figures/toys.

Nothing super nice however. Model paints are so expensive :/

Too rich for my blood.

I painted a Gundam model once, face lines, eyes, eyebrows, fingers, knuckles, all that crap. Once.

I also rebuilt a car engine from the block up. Once.

I do appreciate that kind of work by artisans of both guilds though.
