Does H2/CS source not like XFX Geforce 6800 Ultra 256MB w/93.71 drivers

For some reason no matter WTF I do the game freaking freezes for like 10s then lets me play again and graphically glitches from time to time. CS and H2 recommend my settings to everything on high and I play on 1152x864 resolution. I've tried even using their queer drivers and still the same result from time to time. If anyone has a GeForce 6800 Ultra 256MB please say something and help me with this dilema.

My specs:
AMD Athlon 64 3400
Corsair XMS TwinX DDR400 1.5GB
Gigabyte GA-K8NS Rev.2.0
XFX GeForce 6800 Ultra 256MB
 
When it freezes for 10 seconds, does it say something weird on the screen, like "loading"?

Anyways, your going to have to be more specific about the game freezing at random points. It may simply be you're running too many background tasks that are taking away valuable resources for the game, causing it to stutter.

CTRL+ALT+DEL -> Processes -> Click "User Name" to sort by username, easier to find tasks that are OK to shut down. Then "End Process" of each task until you have just explorer.exe and taskmgr.exe left. Unless you have things that you DO need open, such as a mouse driver (Like SetPoint for Logitech G5/G7 or other Mice), in which case you would leave them running. Your final thing to do is close taskmgr.exe. End that process (Or press the red X, either one does the same thing.)

Once you restart or log off and back on to your computer, all these tasks will be started back up, unless they were something you manually opened up. Then you'd have to open them yourself :)
 
no it does not say loading, it just stops in the middle of gameplay and to the devgruseal saying I have background programs on, I do not I close all user ran background programs b4 I play any game. This damn game just seems to h8 me lol. When i say freeze i mean like I'll be walking then BAM bottleneck no movement and then like 10s later im in front of a wall or something. As i stated the white graphics tears constantly which sometimes go away after i restart my pc

White graphics tears and artefacts are almost always caused by an overheating or dying graphics card.

Ya, does sound like your Graphics Card is exploding.
 
If it's just overheating, get some better cooling for your computer case (fans help with that, a lot), or turn it off for a solid 10 minutes (The more the better, though..)

If it's dying, you'll need a new graphics card.
 
I find it terribly odd that it only does it to this game and no other games I own. I have a well fan modded case, my ambient temp is 47C, the GPU core is 63C. My PSW is 400, could it possibly be that my PSW isn't strong enough?
 
Shouldn't this be in Valve Games help?

What visual options is it on? If they are all on HIGH, I suggest lowering them.
 
H2 and CS suggest everything on High with that stupid star, pretty soon I'm going to tell this game to kiss my ass.
 
I also just tried the game with EVERYTHING on LOW and still the same damn result. It does that graphic tear and I'm about to give up.

47 C IDLE isn't very good on your CPU...

BTW, do you mean psU? Because yeah, I believe that 6800's require a 500+ watt PSU.
