Vote "Yes" if you can play the game for more than an hour without crashing, and "No" otherwise.

It seems like the majority of forum posts these days are about Half-Life 2/Source problems. It's hard to tell what percentage of people actually have problems, so hence this poll. I want to get some hard numbers, to see if the problem is as bad as it seems. (I personally know two people who bought Half-Life 2, but it won't run on their computer)

Just a simple Yes or No is sufficient... no need for more Valve-bashing.

Funnily enough, people don't just pop up and make threads saying "HL2 works perfectly for me".
In other words, people generally only post about HL2 problems when they have HL2 problems. The majority without problems don't feel the need to post about it...

You're completely correct; you can't get an unskewed percentage just by looking at thread subjects. I'm hoping a poll will be a little more objective.

I can play Half Life 2 for days and even for weeks if I had felt for it:D

sometimes if i tab out to many times it will crash on me

Had no end of problems before changing the main parts in my system over Xmas (new mobo, CPU & RAM). After that the game still crashed. I traced this down to my graphics card (Gainward 6800LE) which I found out had RAM that was unstable at it's 700Mhz operating speed when running HL2!! no other game caused it problems! The solutino was to use Coolbits2 to underclock the cards RAM to 500Mhz. After that HL2 ran fine with no crashes. Although I still got the odd sticky/stuttery moment but it was nowhere near as bad as before updating those parts & it didn't bothr me at all (hardly noticable for the most part). So after 2 months of trying to get of the first level without crashing I then got through the rest of the game in a few days! bit dissapointing really!

No problems for me. The last Steam update, as I noticed, gave me a performance decrease, but the game doesn't crash and works OK.

I know it can work fine for a long time on this Dell (I'm getting a new computer, as some of you may know), but the harddrive starts burning in under ten minutes. When I was gone, my brother tried it and played it for 5 hours straight. When I got home he was half way through Nova Prospect and I kicked him off, and shut my computer down for a while.

A couple of problems with validation of files (i.e. Half Life 2 not working, then noticing it is only installed to 99% and won't go further) and a problem where CS went incredibly slowly for no valid reason.

But otherwise I have never had problems with Steam.

Half-Life 2/DOD Source = Yes

Counter-Strike Source = No

Cs:s wont work that long but half 2 works fine. It is usually minimized when I dont play it.
