i just recently increased my heapsize from 64mb to 256mb (which is half of my RAM)

and i got an improvement in the way CS:S runs, including my fps increasing and on a higher resolution (1026 x ***)

and my question is will this affect my computer as a whole, because i heard that my cpu and gpu temperature will increase quite a bit, which i dont want!

im sorry for the noobish question but im new to the whole pc lark (its my first)

so when CS:S isnt running, will it still be gettin the allocated RAM?

thanks for the help in advance

No. When you quit out of the game, it isn't memory-resident anymore. Having the large heapsize will only affect the general running state of your machine when you're actually running CS (i.e., there's less RAM to go around for the other apps / Windows, which you won't notice anyway since you're busy playing CS!).

I have 1GB of ram, what and how do I set my correct heapsize.
