Does McCain Think Bush Should Veto Bailout Bill?

TBH it's hard to know where to stand on this. The fact that the bill would come back before the House with a bunch of corrupt incentives chucked in as sweeteners was entirely predictable. McCain is clearly unhappy about that, and I suppose at least he doesn't try to gloss over it.

But the fact remains that it was entirely Republicans who dragged America into this situation. It was failed Republican ideology that imperiled the economy in the first place, then it was the greed/spite of Republicans which defeated the bailout bill in the vote - most likely because they knew they could get some extra treats chucked in for their special interest groups. I will be very surprised if the Bill fails a second time, yet what's the only difference in it? Tax breaks for rich qunts.

McCain's full of shit if he claims he's going to 'fix' that system by doing anything other than executing 3/4's of his own party.

I wonder if the mumbles about a veto are just the symptoms of McCain's inner Libertarian, making a wistful gesture towards trying to keep the market 'pure' of state interference. Either way it's just idle chatter.

...Oh wait, the bill's already been passed?? I missed that one with all the Palin fuss. But I guess that just means this post gets strength +10.

EDIT: Apparently it was just passed by the Senate and the crunch vote is on later today...

I hope I get to see some of those childrens wooden arrows.

Well the bailout's been passed.

Good thing they managed to squeeze those big business tax cuts into the bill, WHEW THAT WAS CLOSE I CAN SEE WHY CONGRESS OBJECTED THE FIRST TIME.

You guys are more corrupt than Britain, which is saying something.

why did the bailout bill have to filled with SO MUCH PORK! why couldn't it just simply be the bailout?

So that those who were holding out a few days ago would vote yes this time around. I gather those were their terms or those items were just thrown in to sweeten the deal.

Either way, it's a shit sandwich and we all have to take a bite as they say.

So much for the free market ideology. I bet Ron Paul voted against it.

It's a free market when it's convenient for the big businesses to have a free market, but if there's a problem they just make the government help them out by threatening everyone.

Pretty much all the bad areas of socialism without benefits at all
