I'm about to upgrade, but I'm wondering if my current motherboard supports the video card.

Chipset 1
Model : Intel Corporation 82845MP Brookdale Host-Hub Interface Bridge (B0-step)
Bus(es) : ISA AGP PCI IMB USB FireWire/1394 i2c/SMBus
Front Side Bus Speed : 4x 100MHz (400MHz data rate)
Maximum FSB Speed / Max Memory Speed : 4x 100MHz / 2x 133MHz
Width : 64-bit
IO Queue Depth : 12 request(s)

That is my motherboard. Thank you...

Well, I'll have to open the case to see if it is brown or anything. I do know this though; I'm running Geforce 2 MX. Isn't that an AGP card as well? :p

I'm quite sure this board does not support 8x AGP, but that doesn't really bother me. I just hope the board supports the upgrade I'm about to make. I'd appreciate more confirmations on this as I'm about to upgrade tomorrow.

I'm about to fall asleep so I think I'll leave the case opening until tomorrow. Thanx for your reply.

As long as it has an AGP slot, which it does "Bus(es) : ISA AGP PCI IMB USB FireWire/1394 i2c/SMBus" see the AGP in there? It might not be AGP 8x, probably 4x, but that doesn't matter at all. There's actually no noticeable difference between 4x and 8x, so you're fine. As long as there's an AGP slot it doesn't matter even if it's 2x the card will work. Have fun, I just go my new mobo working so I have AGP, 8x even!

It might not have an AGP slot though. Sometimes the AGP bus is just used for an onboard video solution.

Also I think it has to be 4x and above to be compatible with the latest video cards. I'm not sure about the 5900XT but my 9600XT needs at least a 4x. Should be fine though. If it's recent enough to have firewire I'm guessing it's recent enough to have AGP 4x.
