so the way the new aftermath trailer starts, it implies you were actualy involved in the exsplosion. However i thought that at the end of HL2 G-man put u back in slow time warp, so how the hell do u end up underneath a pile of rubble? Maybe we find out g-man is just a total dick and spawned u under rubble so he could laugh at you. O also does anyone else seem to notice how much similar Aftermath seems to HL1? It seems like HL2 built everything up and Aftermath is where everything goes wrong. Any ways seems really sweet

He didn't take Gordon out of the scene. He just slowed down time to tell Gordon he is leaving him. "This is where i get off" he said. Then everything exploded and Gordon ended up underneath a pile of rubble.

the rubble that DOG is digging them out of probably isn't from the explosion at the end of HL2. i dont think that you will start out being dug out of rubble like that. It would make no sense considering that either you would have to have fallen all the way down the citadel and lived, or DOG would have had to come all the way up to where you are somehow magically. That's why that first clip is probably from a different part that happens later.

ok well aside frm that, is anyone else noticing the similarities between aftermath and HL1? And also doesnt it seem like aftermath is more intense and story oriented? Seems like if the whole of HL2 was a movie trailer HL2 would be the intro part, and Aftermath would be the part that really hooks the viewer....ne one know what im talking about? or just rambling on to myself?

The way I see it, Breen somehow managed to survive the explosion by either teleporting before the explosion or the explosion was sucked up in to the vortex and only did minimal damage on Earth. It is then Gman's decision to send you back in order to stop Breen. "We'll see about that!"

I was thinking this myself, if it was the way Aftermath starts.
You hear Alyx calling for you, then Alyx hears something in this rubble and tells DOG to look in and it sees you and gets you out.

It'll probably start up with the G-Man giving one of his goofy speeches, and then dropping you back off under the rubble so that you can continue doing stuff.

Uh... And you're judging this from?

If they're gonna show a 30 second trailer, they're gonna take the most action-packed parts of the 10 or so hours, you could do the same thing with HL2.

I think that only the top half of the citadel is blown apart, hence somehow surviving and dog finding you unconscious. You move down the citadel more w/ the help of dog, and get out of the citadel via the bullet train and see the stalkers. After the episode on the train, you move out to hopefully rescue Dr Kleiner and Barney. At the end you faction off with Alyx, hence the G-man sounding pissed and saying, "we'll see about that". But what do I know, I'm just a n00b.

For one, we still have no idea how Aftermath starts. You could be pulled out of the rubble halfway through the game, for all we know, and (as someone pointed out in a previous thread), the rubble is more reminiscent of a City 17 building than the citadel itself (notably, it seems to be rock or cement, not the bluish metal of combine machinery). Secondly, and this is just a minor pet peeve, but it's not a "slow time warp" as far as we know. Yes, a "slow time warp" happened when Alyx and Gordon teleported out of Nova Prospekt. But there's no evidence to suggest that the Gman uses this same technique. He may, but there's no evidence so far to support it, so it's pointless to assume. More likely, I think, he just throws Gordon in stasis, unrelated to the "time warp".

Again, we can't assume that Breen's dead until we see a body. After you blow up the teleporter, and he falls, if you zoom in you'll see that he's still standing up, alive and well. Perhaps something overlooked by Valve, and perhaps he did die in the explosion, but we can't assume until there's more information to base that assumption off of.

Nooooooooo!!! I dont want Breen to be dead!!! Gordon Freeman killing unarmed humans just doesnt sound right!

Also, that "...you neeeed me.." that Breen says sounds more like he's being teleported somewhere else somehow. One more thing, why would Gordon neeeed Breen. Seemed like Breen was talkin to the Combine people or something. but then how would the combine be able to transport breen anyway.

but yes, i'm with the "Breen is dead...... he is never coming back!!!!" idea, but it would have been interesting to see this "host body" he's spoken of.

Maybe it's somewhere in the middle of the game, an explosion that knocks u off Nothing seemed to look like the beginning to me, they must have probably changed it :hmph:

We know the Citadel is still standing, its been in several screens. The citadel is going into meltdown throughout Aftermath and will ultimately wipe out the city. We don't know how yet, but its safe to assume it won't be some generic explosion.
