Norton AntiVirus has detected a virus on your computer.

Object Name: C:\WINDOWS\sysaz32.dll
Virus Name: Download.Trojan
Action Taken: Unable to repair this file.

Then when I click OK it says "Access to this file was denied"
It keeps popping up, can't Norton just delete it? It's an anti-virus program ffs.

Norton isn't known for being very good. Try other apps. Though even then, if windows is using the file it'll be harder to remove anways.

Get AVG I used to have norton it is a resource hog and barely does its job

Yeah thanks for the advice I'll give AVG a try and I have already got ZA firewall.

have you tried spybot search and destroy?
also TDS-3

I've got spybot search and destroy but I'll try TDS-3.

Doing a full system scan now.

The reason you get this message is that the file has likely tagged itself as a "system file", and no antivirus (MCafee, AVG, Norton etc.) can stop the process of a system file under normal circumstances (blame Microsoft for allowing virus writers the mechanism to tell the OS that thier file is a system file). To get rid of it, go into safe mode (press F8 during boot to get the option for safe mode) and then go to the file, and manually delete it (or just right clock on it, and pick "scan for viruses", and make norton get rid of it). It will toss the file, and I would do a full system scan after you reboot out of safe mode to be sure there are not other virus parts in your system.

I have used Norton, McAfee, AVG, and several others, and I have always come back to Norton. I also never disable it for any reason, because the current versions have a relatively small footprint (1-2 points lost in 3dmark 03 with it running for example, where I currently score almost 12000 anyway!)
Edit -- for those wondering why I score so high with the system specs in my sig, I have not gotten around to updating my sig yet -- D'OH!!

Ahh ok, I tried manually deleting it in normall mode and it didn't let so, so i'll try in safe mode.

Or just stop downloading crap (it works!)

I was looking at the AVG site and it looks like it isn't free...

Sorry PvtRyan, but not downloading (or not opening email with attachments) is not good enough anymore. Ever since the advent of the blaster worm, anyone without a firewalled, patched system is exposed to potentially be infected, as long as thier internet connection was on (unless they have an Antivirus). And you can get hacked, and have someone plant a virus/trojan that an Antivirus would catch as well, but if you do not have one, how would you know?

There are also websites that imbed malicious things in autoexecute ActiveX controls which can plant things (including viruses) on your computer without your knowing it. I have a customer (I do computer support in my spare time in my town) who got a virus while LOOKING at clip art files on the microsoft office clip art file website -- it links to sites outside of microsoft, and one of them had a drive-by-download. She got it, and she had not downloaded anything (even thumbnail images).

So just not downloading things is not a real solution (besides, I LIKE downloading things!)

AVG is free.

I prefer McAfee though, but if you haven't got the money for it, AVG is a lot better than nothing.

Make sure you get the AVG "Free-Edition" cause there is also one that you have to pay for.

Let me rephrase it: download with sense. Has always kept me clean.

And I don't believe in firewalls, if they really want to, they can get it anyway.
