Does steam support different types of payment methods in addition to credit card payment?
If not then does anyone know how can I purchase HL2 Retail package on the day HL2 is released without having to purchase via steam? since I cannot use a credit card to pay. :monkee:

I think Credit Card is the only way, since some people wrote to Gabe and that's the answer they got: It's either real money and retail or credit card and steam.

But where can I purchase the retail package on november 16 :cat:
I'm pretty sure it would hit the stores a week after it is released, and I'll be dying to play it :sniper:

are you kidding me??? dude ... best buy ... eb games ... gamestop

why would it hit stores a WEEK after it's released and not the day it's released? but if you're afraid the store will run out of copies, just preorder the game. it doesn't cost any extra and you get free stuff

I am 99.9% sure it would hit the stores here a week after it is released
And I can't pay via credit card :monkee:

It's possible to use some debit cards to pay - I paid for my HL2 using Visa Electron, and I have seen many forum posts made by happy Electron customers. Failing that, you could always get someone with a credit card to pay for you and give them the cash. I also heard there is the possiblity of using a PayPal one time only credit card number.

Any mastercard or visa with electronic usage should be usable. Regardless if its debit or credit.

The only difference is that transactions will be monitored to ensure you won't go below 0$ which a debit card obviously cannot be allowed to :p

It adds some time for the actual transfer to go through though. Besides if you were 18(rating :p) you probably wouldn't be using a debit card for 15 year olds :D

I used my debit card (Visa logo on it) and the transaction took 30 seconds and I was then plaing CSS within 5 miuntes of purchasing the Silver package.

Dunno why you guys have problems with debit mine worked fine.

If by several payment types you mean Visa or Mastercard, yes Steam does support several payment types. ;)

HL2 will be in stores on November 16 or 17 depending on the store.

debit card = credit card, but it takes the money from a bank account rather than from a line of credit. Therefore you can't go below $0 (good thing), you can get debit cards easier (good thing) but you tend to get less fraud protection/etc (bad thing). Talk to your friendly local bank :)

Wildboyz:I mean if you have a bank anywhere near you, get a current account with them and they'll let you have a debit card. The location isn't important, it's just convenient. You can also do that via the internet, but it depends where in the world you are.

depending on where is the store located too :borg:
Uhh koopa, I don't have a friendly local bank what do you mean by that?

ok, is this getting silly?
