Does The Borland Compiler Work With HL2?

I found this in my quest for free compilers:

Borland Compiler

I typed "Borland Compiler" into search to see if my question had been asked. I couldn't find a specific answer. Does it work for compiling HL2? How do I use it to compiler for HL2?

Well, the SDK comes with a solution file for Microsoft's Visual C++ .NET blah blah random year etc. Technically speaking I think you should be able to compile the code, but you'd have to set up all the imports and what not yourself - even then, I'm not sure. Maybe someone else knows better?

I do know generally that it's better to have the microsoft one, but it's certainly not free.

I tried that compiler, but it didn't work particularly well. It came up with errors for some very simple programs (which I'm 100% sure I typed in correctly, and tried a few work arounds), so it might be better to look elsewhere.

That said, the file is only 8.7 meg, so if you don't mind registering it can't hurt

I used to use the Borland C++ compiler before I got myself a copy of Visual Studio.net.

It's pretty good, for a command line compiler anyway.
