I have been feeling less motivated and concentrated and just more like dumb

and after trying to find the cause of it,I remenbered that I also felt like bad when awakening, like if it wasnt enough of bad sleeping

so I made a search in wikipedia and found this

Randy Gardner holds the Guiness World Record for intentionally having gone the longest without sleep. In 1965, Gardner, then 18, stayed awake for 264 hours (about 11 days) for a high school science project. [9] He experienced significant deficits in concentration, motivation, perception and other higher mental processes during his sleep deprivation.

which is similar to what I feel, and I started to feel like this when class started

so maybe is that? I hope so cuz I feel bad

I'm going for the record.

Starting.....

Now!

Some vietnam dude stayed awake for like 34 years or something... google it.

That's.. Impossible.. Wouldn't you kind of.. go insane?

1. Thai Ngoc, born 1942, has been awake for 33 years or 11,700 nights, according to Vietnamese news organization Thanh Nien. [7] At the time of the report, Ngoc suffered from no apparent ill effect (other than the fact that he cannot sleep). He was mentally sound and was able to carry 100kg of pig feed down a 4km road. It was said that Ngoc acquired the ability to go without sleep after a bout of fever in 1973. In April, 2007, however, Ngoc reported that he was beginning to feel grumpy due to the lack of sleep.

I think humans would be able to adapt if we wanted, like if we just put together 2 days, so instead of having 24 hour days, we'd have 48 hour days. It's said that people need an average of 8 hours of sleep per night, but if humans started doing this 2 days thing, and kept the 8 hour thing, I think we'd be able to adapt, then we'd add another day, then another, until were on one month days. Wouldn't that be cool?

EDIT: I think once you get past a certain barrier time (like 30-40 hours or something) you'll be fine, and won't have the urge to sleep. I was just reading some stories on another forum (googled the sleep thing), and people say they stay awake for 8-10 days, and after the first few, they don't need sleep, they feel fine..

Doesn't your body need sleep to recover?

Hmm I believe that it also has to do with information processing and stuff as well as recovery, I see how ngoc needed the latter quite frankly.

Google tells me this is IN FACT NGOC

Those of you who are confused can join me in this corner of the room.

That story about the dude who hasent slept for 34 yrs is BS probably, you die without sleep, theres no way the mind could function, his brain would literally deteriorate.

This reminds me of my sleep deprivation topic in which people thought I died. :\

Your "fact" is based on.. what? Your scientific brain-study-whatever certifications?

Bah.. unless I see a quote from a REAL scientist, your "facts" are VOID! :|

lack of sleep will absolutely affect your mental abilities in a negative way.

you need to be sure you get 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep and make sure you don't feel like sleeping throughout the day until its the proper time. if you feel as though you need a nap during the day/evening, then you didn't get enough sleep and you should try to find the cause.

-_- okay, look at this logically, sleep is something your body needs, just like food, just like water.

Sleep helps you regenerate your energy for brain function and physical activity.

It's just like recharging batteries, it needs that energy or the object cannot funtion.

Without sleep your brain cannot function, without a functioning brain your organs cannot function, without functioning organs, you die

Saying a man can stay awake for 34 years is just as rediculous as me telling you I haven't drank any liquids for 3 years.

He're your scientific evidence by the way-

Yay for double post, why not just edit?

Anyway, I`m gonna call BS on the no sleep guy.

Ngoc is not a ****ing human. Your scientific research never takes this into account.

****ing not human ok?

When he dies, an autopsy will reveal his robot internals.

In April, 2007, however, Ngoc reported that he was beginning to feel grumpy due to the lack of sleep.
If you've been awake for 34 years (wich isn't possible unless he has some major, major genetic abnormality) and you're just now starting to feel grumpy you're doing very well.

That's not possible.

I ask any of you to try and stay awake for 72 hours, without feeling terrible and having the uncontrollable urge to go to sleep.

I've never stayed awake for a whole entire night, though everyone I know has, it's damn impossible for me to stay up untill sunset, theres no ****ing way you can stay awake for more than 30 years, it's just bullshit.

He's a robot. Either that, or a terrorist.
