Doesn't read Half Life 2 DVD anymore

Hello ,
i've got a problem.
I installed the game , i tought you needed the cd to play so i tried to make an iso of it . For not switching cd's every 5 minutes.
But now it doesn't read the cd anymore... and there isn't a scratch on it. it makes weird noises and says , "Windows can not read from this disc. It's maybe damaged or the disc classifications not compatibel with windows". But i installed it with that drive!

I upgraded my dvd's firmware but didn't helped. Plz anyone..Help me
What can i do that it reads the cd again?

the HL2 updates made sure you did not have to play with the CD/DVD inserted.

yes but the weird part is ... my friend bought the game also but he didn't had a dvd drive so i put my dvd drive in his computer and it still doesn't read ...

So does that mean i can't install the game anymore with that drive , that's a little strange :/

i think there is sum sort of copyright software installed onto the disk.
Do a search on copying HL2 cd/dvd on google, c wat u find.

howcome my friend his game (other half life disc)also does not read in his pc? (with my dvd drive)

It's not like the dvd-drive knows what i have installed , does it? And we really want to play
