Hi, I'm modelling a pistol that Desty made as a VTm. I have some problems:

I'm trying to 'add volume' to the gun, and so I'm making a polygon on the top of teh gun. In the VTM, he makes a single polygon on the top, but mine looks like this:

and once if I click, here's what it looks like:

If I try to make the top by connecting the 4 points on the top, this is my error:

I hope someone can help me. Thanks in advance!

I've had problems, it could be version difference? Desty uses 4.0, and you have 4.2 Mod tool...?

It looks like there is a vertex in the middle there that the plane you are trying to create are connecting to. Or you been unlucky and touched one of the vertexes in the grip when trying to make the above surface.

Not a version problem, 4.0 and 4.2 are identical as far as this tool is concerned. It looks like somehow, the polygons are facing the wrong direction. Make sure both sides of the gun are facing opposit directions, ie they are facing outwards.

I also have a problem, well not a problem with the tutorial, just the keys. How to move objects over the axis? This is hard to explain so just look at the attachment. Thanks if you can help.

If your using the Mod Tool, hold V then drag the arrow that points along the axis you want it to move.
You can drag things along X and Y in the Side view, but you have to use the 3D view to move along Z.

Incase that was a bit jumbled, to move something along the X axis you would:

1) Press space to enter object select mode.
2) Select the object you want to move.
3) Hold V then drag the red arrow (X axis) the way you want the object to move.

Also, make sure the object is it global C.O.G movement mode by clicking the corresponding buttons on the right hand side, its easier to do this whilst movement is locked, so just press V then let go, rather than holding it.

Replace red and X with either Y and green or Z and blue for the other 2 Axis.

it deletes the operator stack. If u press the "selection" button u will see all the operators on the selected models (any movement, change, effect, pretty much any modification) there. It gets laggy after u get like after u get a couple of houndred (depends on the sytem) so u collapse everything back to 1 with freeze.
