People's accounts are being hijacked by a tripod page.

Do not acess any tripod links, for a long time.
 
It's a virus/hack of some kind, these guys are doing it without knowing. We'll delete on site, but don't open any tripod links on IRC or in our channel.
 
I know i saw them :( i haden't read any spoilers ever before, im really agry right now. To the mods, will he get a ban atleast?

A guys posted a bunch of spoilers, im trying not to think about it right now so i forge *squeezes head* nope maybe a concussion will help *bam*

Someones put way, WAY to much thought into this. More so because they had to know this site has the most active moderator set evar!

Someone check they're IRC log for ip's please. Time for some good 'ol search and destroy.
 
This happen on the steampowered.com forums a long time ago. It's not a virus so don't worry about that. It's just a redirect page that will automatically post a new post on HL2.net with whatever the creator wants.

So for those of you worried about Virus' DON'T BE!
 
Links here on this site can be masked so you won't see where they link to before it's too late. The general rule shoulld really be: Don't click on ANY links at all. In fact, stay off the Internet :)

Oh just wanted to let you guys know who have had it happen to them, your account and passwords are safe. It relies on you being already logged in so don't worry.
 
I'm so stupid :) Wrote the post above just now. And did I follow my own advice? Oh no. I walked right into a spoiler thread & got spoiled :E Nothing major. It was quite stupid anyhow. I seriously do not believe it thank God :)

Edit: The fact that I reported it & it got deleted contradicts my view on the whole thing though ;(

I'm pretty sure fake spoilers are deleted along with real ones, so if you wish then consider yourself safe.

Yeah, there are so many spoilers that are posted that you guys don't even know about or hear of because we get there first to delete them.

Likewise some members of staff here will know more spoilers than others :(

We just look out for you guys and try to get them out of your eyeshot ASAP.

That would be spoilerish in itself so, No I hope not. So convince yourself that it was fake. That's what I do.

I'm not it would be best if they told you. It might be better to leave yourself to decide if they were fake.

Yep - I saw that ass hats spoiler thread on hl2fallout. Unforunately their mods didnt get to it until like 2 or 3 pages of flame posts were made to it. I prefer not to know whether they are real or not. Ignorance is bliss. Ahhhhh.
 
Yeah mods, I've only been caught by one or two spoilers but it was uber-sucky. I really appreciate your efforts to protect us from them.

Perhaps we should petition VALVe to let the mods play HL2 through so the game doesn't get totally ruined for them (if it hasn't already) before it is finally released.

I completely appreciate the hard work that the hl2.net moderators are doing to stop us from reading these spoilers, but i just happened to refresh the main page just in time to see a massive f*cking spoiler topic, which was deleted before my next refrest about 2 seconds later. personally im going to avoid all hl2 forums, including this one, until ive finished the game, ive resisted all the spoilers since the various leaks too much to have it spoiled now hl2 is so close.


once again, the mods do a fantastic job here, but they cant be expected to get every thread in time. bye for now.
 
I opened 2 threads...first had a minor spoiler, next had "wtf, at the end"--i closed that right away.
