Doom 3... Late or sooner than we thought?

Hello, and i yet again welcome you to my thread. Currently we will be discussing this- http://www.gamespy.com/ - If you look at the top at 12pm pst aka 3pm EST gamespy will be releaseing a news announcment on doom3... and on its release date.... HEHE :) *this is more current than the augest 3rd peeps this is new news.*
 
I never thougth it would come out this soon.
 
It's already gold, what news is there to tell about its release date?


Oh, and I had hoped for Doom III in June, so this is certainly later... :hmph:
 
you arent getting it i dont belive.... he mentions that his report at 3 will state new information on the release... ither it could be delayed for some reason... remember CZ went gold too...... OR it could be comeing on next tuesday which is highly possible. It would be during valves big party.
 
I bet they just reassure us it is still coming out on August 3rd, they even say "Is this

game still coming out Aug. 3?" Although an early release would be one of the greatest

surprises ever for me at least :) Hopefully some new info comes out of this.

"DOOM3 Release pushed back to make way for Half-Life2 which will be released on the 3rd of august. Doom3 has been indefinately delayed"


there's even a Carmack Quote:

"I just got to play the first few levels of Half-life2 and frankly I was embarrassed of Doom3, so I've decided to revamp the entire game. Doom3 will now be set in City 14 fighting an evil organisation called the Columbine, run by the nefarious D-Man"

So, the next question is release dates. Retailers in the States will be allowed to pick up games starting
at 12:01 AM on August 3rd. The official street date is actually August 5th in the U.S.A., but some of
your favorite stores will probably have it early for those of you who have to have it first. Check with
your local retailer for that information.

Internationally, the game will take a few more days to make it to the store shelves. The UK will probably get it first, on or about August 6th. Everywhere else will probably be Friday, August 13th (que Twilight Zone Theme) or close to that date, with just a few exceptions (e.g. Russia and Poland).

To clear up any confusion by my comment, DOOM 3 is still slated to come out the "week of August 3." Many outlets should have it by the 3rd, but some may not get them until a day or two later, as happens with many videogame releases. So fans shouldn't be upset if they can't get it right on the 3rd.

So there is no new info on the release date. The comment was more of a "don't be upset if you can't get it right on the 3rd" instead of "the game may be delayed."

Apologies if there was any undo consternation here. I should have been more clear.

I dont think it is a delay, if anything, either to just say its on time, or it will be out sooner

Well its a complicated process. First people can't wait for it come out so they start going crazy and say ":O NEWS UPDATE 12:00 PST AT GAMESPY ON DOOM3, IT MIGHT BE RELEASED TOMORROW!!!" People say that when they get desperate. But that wont make the game come out earlier. People just think it will. althou it would be sweet if they said earlier.
 
3rd of august is mt birthday :)

too bad i wont be buying it

"(Editor's Note: Activision later informed us that 10 select Best Buy stores, covering 6 markets -- Chicago, Washington D.C., Miami, Los Angeles, New York and Dallas -- will offer the game at 12:01AM on Aug 3 as part of a special midnight madness sale. We were unable to find out if any other stores will be conducting similar promotions.)"

To bad i live in Austin,Tx I would really like to get that game on the 3rd, I can wait until the 5th :)

Well, the interview was nice, nothing really all that new, except the RTCW sequel :) but it was ok, and coudnt really tell but release date hasnt changed, they never mentioned a delay
