My computer is running awfully. I have every driver and a clean computer, but it runs like crap. I am fairly sure that it is my motherboard. I have an MSI GNB-MAX Fisr e7205 chipset. I am looking to get a new one, so what kinds do you guys have and how does Doom 3 run on your computer?

It isn't exactly your board.
Your CPU probably only runs at 533 FSB and your memory is PC2100 (266MHz). Those are the things that may be holding you back.

How much memory do you have? I would suggest 1GB (2x 512MB) before switching out the board or anything else.
How fast is your CPU? I assume it is a Pentium 4 and not a Celeron.

Well my system is a
Pentium 4 2.4b 533mhz fsb
Radeon 9700pro
1gb of ddrram running at 266mhz
Winxp
80gb hdd (recently formatted ntfs)
MSI GNB MAX Fisr Motherboard (with updated e7205 chipset driver)
I run Catalyst Drivers
Direct x 9.0c and i tried b

I have my Radeon, my sound device, and my USB controller on 16, but i disabled the sound device and usb controller before and it didn't solve the problem.

My CPU temperature is 75C or 167F, according to SiSoft that is too high... what should I do? Would that be the problem?

I will run some benchmarks on SiSoft Sandra and post them soon

I dont understand why you get bad fps mines great and i have
2600+
768 ram
ati radeon 9600 XT

well, you can open your DoomConfig.cfg in notepad (x:/program files/doom 3/base) and find the line that's like
"s_imageCachemegs 32" and change that to 128 or 196.... you should get a nice boost in performance.

Seriously, I have the same problem... I've got a Radeon 9800 Pro 128, a Athlon XP 1700+ and 512 mb 266 Mhz. The recomanded settings for my comp is 640x480 medium quality. With my card, I would have expected to run at 1024x768 at least....

I'm running on Catalyst 4.9 beta, should I try the DNA drivers?
