A trailer for DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil is now available for download, offering almost two minutes of gameplay from this upcoming expansion of DOOM 3 (thanks: Shacknews). Resurrection of Evil picks up two years following the events of the original in a once forgotten and remote UAC research facility on Mars. You'll use new weapons like the physics defying "grabber" and the classic double-barreled shotgun, but you'll also be able to slow the time. DOOM 3 for Xbox includes 480p and wide-screen support, full Xbox Live multiplayer and the Xbox exclusive 2-player co-op campaign. DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil will be released by Activision on April 4th.

The physics gun, is realy impressive.

OMG OMG thank you! thank you! Im a DOOM nut.

Downloading now! :)

Holy crap, looks like it takes Mancubuses out in one blast. That is powerful.

What an awesome expansion pack!

gotta love that hellish artifact that he had. It made his hands look all old. They looked like they were twitching too. Awesome. AND WE GET TO GO BACK TO HELL!!!

Doesn't look half bad...
I hope the level design is a bit more... open... the constant tunnel-vision got on my nerves with Doom 3

Remember...trailers can be deceiving...

Apparently demons and hellspawns are reverse-clausterophobic, so if the gates of hell open up just walk to an open meadow and pray for your friends who happen to be coal miners. Wish there was some open spaces :|

I Cant complete the 1st one im so scared :|
defo not buying expansion :o

I agree with SearanoX, this looks better than Doom 3.
One thing I hope they fix in this expansion is that enemies don't just suddenly respawn in the room you recently were in, that got on my nerves in Doom 3.

Thanks for the link, Gorg.

Ya, that felt a lot like crappy sidescrollers from the SEGA and SNES days, not the days of advanced physics and hyperrealistic graphics.

Yes because I thought to myself I just walked through that room and killed 5 demons, when i walk back into the room in 3 minutes I know there won't be 5 identical demons in there then :sniper:      :O followed by me being enraged.

Bah, although I might consider getting this expansion, why don't they add out-of-the-box co-operative play in it? I'd buy it for that alone!

What's with the console=co-op PC=loner attitude anyway?! I'd love to play through Doom 3/its expansion with another guy...

I totally agree. I hate how there's almost no PC co-op games, yet when they're released for console, they have co-op. Halo, for example.

Yep, I would have loved to have seen co-op on PC, 2 playesr wouldn't be too stressful and it would be completely awesome. Oh well, I think I will still get this expansion. Looks very nice from the vid, also TH promised more games in the Doom franchise, yay!

This is looking pretty good. I might get it.

The Gravit - I mean the Grabber gun looks pretty cool :p

Should be ok for a quick blast.

[sarcasm]The grabber gun! What an original concept! Wow, is there anything ID can't do?[/sarcasm]

Slow motion!! Now there's an original concept!! Go ID!

* Control time to defeat the enemy and evade deadly traps

They are way ahead of you buddy, way ahead of you.

OT: Looks nicer than Doom 3, not in graphics, but I mean the general look of the game, less dark too. Double barrel shotgun looks nice and beefy. Hopefully this can make up for the failure of Doom 3. But this needs CO-OP!! It's pretty suitable for it.
Grabber is, however a relatively useful addition, still a lame ripoff.

The Grabber gun has the ability to manipulate small enemies and projectiles and emits a spatial distortion effect. The grabber is not just a Half-Life 2 rip-off.

I don't get it? Has the Doom guy been taking lessons from Max Payne? If so then why doesn't he have that weird constipated look?

Have I missed some update that removed the super gravity gun from HL2 which allowed you to do just that?

It IS a ripoff, and graphical gimmicks added won't make it any different, it is however a good addition to Doom 3, and does make the game better. I just can't stand how it's a simple cash in weapon "hey there's this game with a gravity gun, and it's getting a lot of publicity for it, what are we waiting for?!". A missed opportunity to actually improve the GG concept, adding new functionalities to it.

But we've been over this discussion already.

id Software was the first company to introduce a lot of things to the first-person shooter genre, why don't people bitch about that?
Doom (1993) had a pistol and so did Half-Life (1998).

I believe we've had this conversation before, and i believe the conclusion was

A Gravity Gun in any game, is still awesome

(Although i did find it pretty funny that some people on the Planet Doom forums were ragging on the Gravity Gun in HL2, saying its an 8-year-olds toy that all you do is point and shoot, when you do the exact same thing i every other game. And now doom 3 is getting a gravity gun so i doubt they're complaining now)

Doom 3 had an entity drag command, which does the same thing as the gun and it was out before hl2.
