Cool..those are pretty high preffered specs though, imo..

I meet the preferred specs, EXCEPT for the graphics card.. 9700 (OCed to Pro).. hope it runs well
/me crosses fingers

I meet the preferred specs except for my ram....of which another 512 mb should be arriving anyday now MUAHAHAHAHAH

anyway I guess I'm set.

Thanks for the link sir! My computer will roxor Doom 3!

Argh Ive been sent back in time by 2 weeks nooooooooo 2 weeks longer to wait for my new PC and Doom 3 *cries a river*

/me meets all preferred specs...

Can't wait, have my $5 down on my pre-order... except EB Games says they won't have it until the 4th, rawr.

I have the review issue of PC Gamer and they show a screenshot of Doom 3 using a Geforce 4 MX. It looks awesome. I am willing to bet that your 9700 (pro) can easily handle Doom 3.

Anyways, a 9700 pro is only 10% slower than a 9800 Pro.

Yeah.. if that screen is really running on a GF4MX, that's amazing. It looks great. But it does indeed look a little lower quality than the other shots, which is the only reason I'm willing to believe it (the caption, as far as any of us know, could be unrelated)

the best way to test your sytem without actually buying the game would be to test the demo, and i was seriously not expecting to play the game at all on my 5200, but that's a better model than the gf4mx which is reassuring

If by demo you mean the leaked, highly unoptimized alpha from over 2 years ago, I wouldn't say that's the best way, especially now that we know the required and preferred specs.

Didn't we already know these? :|

PC Gamers rough estimate. They said that the FX 5900 XT should be very good, while it seems it's actually in the mid-range performance category competiting with a 9600XT.

Oh my bad. So many people have been calling that leaked alpha "the demo" that I automatically think the alpha when it's mentioned at all.

I'm just hoping I can get it looking good on my 9600xt... but I'm sort of wierd with framerates, I can live with as low as 20 FPS.

Yeah, ditto. I guess it came from my .286 days, playing Jill of the Jungle at near slide-show rates. :D

ahha the days where I played carmageddon at 2fps.. a true slide show..

/me laughs at Shuzer.

I meet the preferred spec, except for my video card. It's a 9800 Pro. :D

Same here, except it's an XT hehe!

This is good news, I thought I had to sell my internal organs to upgrade but looks like I'll be fine :)

Damn, and I was really looking to buy some good organs too.

The minimal specs are pretty low (still high.. but also low considering its Doom 3)... but the preferred one scares me, preferred is most of the time the minimum specs if you don't want to move around shooting black rectangles with your white rectangle gun in a 6 polygon map.

I'm in the middle between minimum and Preferred.

Got 2500 mhz...512 ram....and a 9600 256mb...I could use more ram for sure...but I don't feel like blowing more money on a gfx card when mine can run games like Farcry on highest quite well.

well hopefully my PC can handle Doom3's demands...

/me looks at Shuzer for re-assurance :|

Don't worry! We'll go down in FPS slide-showdom together!

Spend the extra $40 and get a 9800 Pro, me thinks.

I think people are a bit too worried about the specs for this game. Personally, I'm keeping my Ti4400 and I'm really not that worried.

I'm sure people with 9600XT and FX 5900 will be able to play the game at least at high at about 30-40 FPS. The people with 9800pro and XT and higher should be able to play at very high with better framerates.

I've seen some mag scans guys, and this game looks almost as good as Far cry on a Geforce 4 MX, so on higher settings it should look fantastic!

Doom 3 will run fine with a Radeon 9600 Pro and above.
I expect to run it with 30-40 FPS on high settings at 800x600.
Sounds reasonable

You think its reasonable, but on high settings you still won't get that :)
