Doom FPS cap?

This one is for Doom 3:

Running Doom 3 in any mode at any resolution (typically 640x480 - 1024x768) results in absolutely no change in maximum FPS. It seems to always be locked at 60fps. Now get this, using the Sapphire Redline utility I can lock a resolutions refresh rate manually. All of the resolutions up to 1280x1024 are locked at 100hz. That and if I change it to vsync off, it makes no difference whatsoever.

My current settings are 1024x768 @ 100hz on Ultra mode, maxing at 60fps and only dropping to 54fps. Vsync on for the hell of it.

Also noticed something kinda spooky, went through the old config file and found this set off settings:
seta r_customHeight "486"
seta r_customWidth "720"
Does this mean Doom 3 is "actually" running at that resolution? I do not want to manually change them since I do not know what they effect.

How do I uncap or change the maximum fps in Doom 3?

Update

Update:

OK, ran the game with the "-nointro" line where it boots you straight to the console when the game starts. This console w/o menu showed 127fps locked, you then hit esc to get the menu and it drops to 60fps locked. Apparently it *is* the game and not the settings in windows or in the options menu. With both vsync on and off I still got the 127fps in the startup console and 60fps when it got into the menu. I will continue to search for a workaround to this, but doubt I will find anything.

The game is capped at 60fps. This has been stated by id on a shit load of occassions. There is absolutely no reason to go faster than 60fps.

The timedemo is capable of more, obviously.

Interesting, is there any way to uncap it? (as asked in my first post)
I would like to see how high it will go whilst I run amok around the levels.

It will mess up the game, because things like how far you jump are based on some time calculations, or so I've heard.

no, you can't uncap it. There isn't mcuh reason to go higher than 60fps..

Yes its capped and there is no way to remove it.... on a side note doom 3 benchmarks that show the 6800gt to be a faster card than the x800xt are run in a timedemo without the cap. As soon as you get in game the only benchmark that show a difference between the 6800u and x800xt cards is the 1600x1200 benchmark with full FSAA and AF. at all lower quality and resolutions there simply is no difference between the cards because they both run the game at 60fps...

Yep, it was done to stop the things happening that happened in Q3A. People worked out jumps that could only be done at certain speeds :)
