The people who are making the movie are changing the story line to the following.

1 it is no longer set on mars.

2 everything wrong happens because of a virus. much like resident evil, 28 days later , dawn of the dead etc etc.

3 instead of marines it will involve SWAT team members.

4 no UAC.

5 the BFG will be named Bio force un instead of big F**king gun.

this is the link to the site that i found this information

sure will be called "resident evil: doom"

Hollywood can kiss my hairy white butt....... but then again since the plot has nothing to do with doom, it wouldent technically be a doom movie? basicly we just have a shitty movie on our hands thats named doom....... or something

Saw that on the inquirer. Sucky news indeed. I hope ID can can the project.

I really hate how the scriptwriter had the nerve to say these changes were "necessary". Grrr at you, Hollywood. Grrr.

That's pretty much the reason why everyone's pissed off

this is a trend that is becoming more and more common... true movies and source material have always had discrpencies, but I don't recall in my youth seeing quite so many licensed films which completely rewrote the subject matter they were supposedly licensing.

Bourne Identity is to date the worst offender I've seen. While the movie ended up being good, it is NOT the Bourne Identity. Ironically had the second movie been even slightly similar to the book Bourne Surpemecy it would have sucked major arse (worst book sequel in history). So I guess this is one case where I'm glad that the movie shared only the title in common with the book.

that movie with Vin Diesel, Payback or something, wasn't that intended to be based on Max Payne?

It's not Doom without Hell. say bye bye to teh pinkys!
FEAR TEH PINKY!!!!111
One of the characters is named Pinky and rides in a mechanical wheelchair. Guess what happens to him.

I wish there were an emoticon that portrayed vomiting out of disgust. And I don't care about Doom at all. It's that sad.

if they are still gonna call it doom with the intention of DOOM the Game... then i think ID-Software should sue em for making a crappy movie that doesn't even come close to the game

Payback didn't have Vin Deisel in it, and was made before Max Payne came out. It had Mel Gibson in it.

A Man Apart that was it, but for some reason it also had the title Payback Time

It seems like all the games that turn into movies get a new story that has some kind of supervirus.

In the future we will see a HL movie. The story will be about a virus that turned people into the vile Combine.

God no, that would be terrible.

As for doom. That's really gay. ID should due for crappy film making.

Yeah ID should sue for misuse of the IP or something... atleast due to the changes the word Doom shouldnt be used in the film. Its wrong.

So let me get this straight... Doom is a game where you try to stop hell fromm overflowing, into mars, and you are a marine who must stop this from happening. Doom: the movie is completely the opposite, with NOTHING that made the origonal doom great.

so basically, everyone who loves the game DOOM, will hate the movie DOOM. And because the movie DOOM is just another crappy horror movie, no-one except the gamers will go and see it. and because the gamers hate it, no-one will see it. do i detect a flop?

WOW! HOW DID YOU GUESS THAT!!>!!>!! OMFGPSYCHIC!

Of course it will flop, even if they did stick to the story it will flop. Bottom line is: HOLLYWOOD HATES VIDEO GAMES!

No, they're jealous. This year will be the second year in a row that the gaming industry has surpassed hollywood in revenue.

This reminds me of house of the dead, nothing at all like the game, apart from at the end the 2 main charaters come in and grunt.

If hollywood want to do a shitty film, why dont they just do it, why do they need to say its "Doom" when its cleary nothing like it at all.

This is the way hollywood works. They take a great ideá and make it into "Oh noes teh ViruzZes!!"

Maybe they will make a "Need for speed" movie that has a virus infecting cars, making them sound nothing like they are supposed to?

i don't think ID gives a shit about the use of the name as long as they get paid a crap load of money for it

LOL - House of the Dead was teh suck! Especially when during action sequences they'd cut to gameplay footage. What a complete trainwreck of a movie. It wasn't even a decent Zombie movie, let alone video game adaptation.

Lord Dubu = Zombie Movie Snob.

If they attach a popular, well-known name to a shitty film, more people will go to see it.

This pretty much sums it up

and the funnniest thing is, that a Polish man is making the movie! how pity.

What I don't understand is why title-license movies do this so often. They know they take a hit after the first box-office weekend, so why? Why not try to appease the primary audience: the people who enjoyed what you're licensing in the first place.

and you have a problem with that because...?

We get the guy who brought us some classics such as "Cradle 2 the Grave" and "Romeo Must Die!"
