DOOM3 Crash to Desktop :( :(

Alright so I was really excited when my wife brought me home a copy of DOOM3... I installed it, everything went smoothly. I started it up, it autoselected "high" graphic settings (XP 2800+, 1GB PC2700 RAM, 256MB ATI 9800)... When I go to start a new game, it goes through the loading screen, and when it finishes loading, I get a nice crash to desktop. No error message, nothing else signifying something went wrong, DOOM3 just ends itself and I'm left at my desktop. WTF, mate?

Try upgrading to the Catalyst 4.8 betas *OR* upgrading to the official 4.7 drivers. If you're already running the 4.7s, I'd suggest the 4.8 betas.

I had this problem myself -- went away with the 4.8 betas.
