Problem: Doom3 crashes to windows when I play about 1 till 10 mins. It usally happens when I'm in a firefight. It just exiting itself and returning to windows. Also the benchmark program 3DMark2003 sometimes crashes to the desktop. I have no idea where that come from. Btw my Benchmark score is around 12500 with 3DMark2003!

specs:
Antec TruePower 380Watt. <-- alot of ppl saying that is good enought for my system.
AMD Athlon64 3800+
1GB mem (cas 2-3-2-6 <-- default settings, Corsair TWINX1024-3200LLPT)
^^ I've tested the mem for about 1.5 hour and getting zero errors!

MSI K8N neo2 Platinum-54 motherboard
Audigy 2 ZS
Sapphire X800XT PE

Things I've already tried:

installed the newest mobo drivers and ATi drivers (even the 4.9beta)
Playing D3 with SP1 and SP2, with DX9.0b/DX9.0c, completely reinstalled windows XP and slipstreaming SP2, disabeling 'fast writes' in BIOS, underclocking the mem/gpu of the gfx card. Increasing the AGP volts, increasing the Vcore volts, increasing the mem volts, underclocking system memory (to cas 2.5/3), using defragmenter. Using Doom3 on lower gfx settings (medium quality, no aa etc.) Nothing seems to work.

Any thougths? :(

Holy. Crap.

You did ALOT to try to get it to stop crashing.. that's insane, man.
I can't offer any advice past what you tried, that must be awful. :|

Have you tried to reinstall the game or change the settings? I'm going at the obvious here, since you've covered the rest of teh bases.

Reinstalling the game would have had to have fallen under the reinstalling Windows part of his attempted fix :P

Hmm, run a program to check how hot your graphics card is. Maybe it's overheading and causes the crash. ATItools is decent enough. I'm shooting in the dark here, you did things I never even thought of doing.

[EDIt]: Should really read the post before, my earlier advice, two posts up, is total bullshit. Sorry :)

I connected a 2nd powersupply to the X800XT and I got no problems with D3 anymore. So my default powersupply is the real problem, even with 380watt is isn't enought.

Now I just need to replace the Antec Truepower 380watt with a 480 watt or something!

Slap the CD in the face and say," Stop crashing!"
But I may suggest maybe reinstalling Widows?
I don't know...my guess.

Wow, first off, he resolved his problem. Second, if you had read his post, he had already done that.

Wow, 380's not enough? I thought the x800 was less thirsty than the 6800? you need your own power station to run that? think about the alienware idea with 4 or 8 6800's? you reckon the lights will dim? :)
