While the Wraith-Night winter event for Dota 2 is still very much underway, the game's development team is clearly already focused on the next major event, which is apparently set to arrive at the end of January*.
A surprise announcement over on the Dota 2 blog has revealed a mysterious new event, which is currently being referred to as the "Year of the Horse". The announcement page itself provides limited information, with little more than an estimated release window and a conceptual drawing of a red and white horse. What little information we do have arrives courtesy of the original blog post, which mentions how community members can become "a part of the next Dota 2 event" by creating items for Dota 2 which draw visual inspiration from the Chinese New Year, Chinese History, and Spring before submitting them to the Steam Workshop with the recently added "Spring2014" tag.
Submissions will only be accepted up until January 15th, when Valve will likely begin finalising their choices ahead of the update's release, which should arrive sometime around January 31st if the Chinese New Year reference is any indication.
