Download speeds

I'm trying to download TrackMania United and it's going at about 70 bytes a second. Yes BYTES. :|

Why is this? Usually I get 250kb/s which is top for my connection but recently Steam is terribly slow. Because of TF2 perhaps?

servers just get bogged down every now and then. ya i know i been in the bytes range before.

I'm currently downloading the full version of Bioshock, and I'm only getting 70k/s on a 20meg connection.

I've tried deleting that .blob file a few times to connect to a different server, it doesn't really help though.

Any tips? At this rate it won't be done today. Can I download the game elsewhere and copy it into the steam directory?

Well its rocketing along now at 600k so its kind of solved itself.
