Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3

I was a fan of the show when I was younger and I never got to play the previous two. From what I've read Budokai and Budokai 2 were only mediocre games and Budokai 3 is really good. Is it really fast paced and have a good long lasting single player? If anyone has it is it really worth getting or is it just something you would rent?

If you have Half-Life, your probably better off just downloading Earths Special Forces.

However, I have also heard that 3 is the best so far.

Actually, you just think so because its associated with Half-Life, and not because its DragonBall in general.

Budokai 3 is great fun, the story mode is just the show from Raditz to Buu, and depending on which character you chose depends on how far it goes and which parts you play out (ie - there are seperate characters for young, teen, and older Gohan and each has a different saga). Most characters, though, don't have a story mode, but I didn't get into that too much anyway. The fighting is pretty fun, and a blast multiplayer (except when you get into power struggles with beam attacks and you have to rotate the analog stick blindindly fast... but I'm just saying that cause I lost them all the time).

Bid For Power would've pwned ESF if they'd been able to keep the DBZ characters... stupid Funimation. Anyone seen the trailers? Total pwnage. There was another DBZ mod for HL coming out but they cancelled it cause they were afraid of meeting the same fate.

My friend got Budokai 3 for Christmas. We switched off fights going through SP. In the main SP campaign alone you can play through as a total of like 20-some characters I'd guess. Every DBZ character that fights is in this game pretty much. No Pikhaun er whatever his name was...but his role was tiny - Same goes to random characters that were in tournaments. Brolly is even in this one. They also have SSJ4 transformations and SSJ4 Gogeta and other fusions. We probably spent a good 15-20 hours alone unlocking every single transformation and character. Not to mention playing multiplayer, fighting in the arena to make money, and fighting in the Dragon Arena to lvl up characters.

Does the transformation of your character really matter? I heard throughout the battle you can turn SSJ all the way to SSJ4. But let's say if you're both Goku for example and one is SSJ2 and the other is just normal. How much of an advantage will the SSJ2 one have over the normal one?

Actally, no, I think that because almost every retail DBZ game to date has been terrible.
Also, I've been a fan of DBZ since 1997. I've seen the entire series and all 13 movies.

I still have the Release Candidate that got leaked for BFP. It's wasnt all that great really...nor was the real release. However, there was a DBZ skin pack released for it.

It gives you extra dmg and ki regen (you may be faster too...not sure). When you're regular, you don't regen Ki. When you're SSJ2 or so, you'll regen Ki automatically to like 4-5 bars and more if you're higher. There are also attacks you can only do in certain transformations. Not to mention you just look cool

Budokai 1...just sucked. Budokai 2 was awesome. This one looks to be fing sweet.

Yeah, I think 90% of the hype on my part was being able to play as all the characters. I was insanely into DBZ at that stage.

Hey, I was on the BFP forums, was kind of regular, went by the name of SPAZ. Don't remember your name though... actually the only member name I can remember off the top of my head is Android18 (for... obvious reasons).

Yes, yes it was. Funimation threatened them with legal action and they changed to original anime styled characters.

I wasnt a big fan of the series and didnt played 1 and 2

but the 3 looks very faitfull to the series
whit fasts batles and combos exactly like the serie

foe example my brother was playing and was using goku and was figting against cell,and he start o make a combo usint that teleportation technique of goku and was teleporting and punching and continue kicking the ass of cell until cell broke the combo and start teleporting and doing the same combo,it was very cool
also are things like when 2 kamehameha (thats the name of the techinque right) crahs against each others you hav to press buttoms (or move the thumbstick) very fast to beat the other,also many combos and stuff that are very faitfull o the serie
IMO the budokay 3 is very recomended if you are a big fan of the serie

Name any current DBZ mod. Bid For Power was 10x more well known than any of them. As soon as any DBZ mods become as big as BFP was i'm sure they'll get an email.
