Remember this game? The first 50¢ game I can remember in the arcade. Too rich for my blood at the time, and it seemed hard. I just remember the video would pause between every movement by the player and people died constantly. I think I saw one person get as far as the mud people. Do you think it'll sell if they don't fix the extremely linear gameplay? By extremely, I mean you have to move in the exact direction, press "sword" at exactly the right time throughout the entire game - no decisions to be made other than timing. I'd be satisfied with a (smooth) video of somebody just beating the game so I could see the other 90% of the game that I never saw. The Scoop.

Let me tell you a story. You see, my brother is a big fan of Don Bluth - the artist responsible for the artwork in this game. In fact, he has some hand signed cells (single frame of animation from the actual movies) from some of Don Bluth's movies. Years ago, my oldest brother (now 40) worked at an arcade repair shop called 'Family Amusement'. Somehow, he ended up with the lazer disc from a non-working Dragon's Lair game. He bought a lazerdisc player, and he could actually watch this cartoon from the arcade game in it. I think he may have said that it wasn't really in order or anything though.

Fast forward to today, my brother has this arcade game "Dragons Lair", and yes, it is REALLY hard. I think I successfully made it past 1 screen before. It's just not my thing. It's so hard, my brother still can't beat it yet. There is one part near the end where he just can't figure out the right action and timing.

I'm pretty sure he will be happy to hear about this news. So to answer your question - fans will buy it. I think they will keep the original gameplay.

Hahaha! The first few times I played I died real quick because I just watched the game instead of realizing I was the cartoon! It was a great experience that was a lot of fun after that. It still stands as a very important moment in videogame history! Interesting to see what HD does for it....

I remember playing this game on the Sega CD. My brother and I could only get past the part with the tentacle and the bridge which was like the first scene. I'd like to give it another go sometime as it's probably been ten years or so since I played it.

Brings back a lot of memories.
