Dream hack- Worlds larges lan party breaks record again

I personally dont see the point of giant lan parties, why go drag your PC over there to sleep in crappy rooms and play games with people you have never met before, when I can stay home and do the same thing? Lan parties are really only fun when done with a small group of friends.

You don't go to big lans like this just to play with your friends. You go to big lans to get new friends, share knowledge and have a great time. You don't spend alot of time in front of your computer playing games :)

agreed.

I'll jump on the "smaller lan parties are better" band wagon.

Come to think of it I aint been to a lan in ages, have to get my mates to arrange one, they're awesome :D Pizza, movies, games, no sleep. Love it. :)

I've never been to a lan party before.

I do want to go to one sometime though.

My entire high-school threw a LAN party once, it was pretty wild.

10455 computers though is a little much- I don't see how much different it is from just playing online. :x

Doing It At 100 megabits - Documentry (A rather old one I should mention)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ga0hNSJq_YE

Features Valhalla the main lan party I attend (200-250 people, shows how old the video is we no longer use the larger hall). I much prefer smaller parties such as Valhalla which isn't to big. For instance I probably will not be attending Reloaded next year which will be the biggest LAN party in Australia. One of the best lines you'll get out of that video "It's a good way to meet people."

Kyorisu, you seem to be in the know of Australian LANs, are there any good QLD (More specifically, Brisbane) ones around any more? I'd love to go to one [again] before I head off for a few years. Or know of somewhere where they discuss this and I could find out more info..

I'm in the know for the majority of LANs in SA I use this site http://www.salanning.org/ which keeps me mostly up to date. SA is the biggest state for LANs and this has been proven many times. SA holds the title for the biggest CS/S tourney to date. Unfortunately I cannot help your for Brisbane. I had a hard time trying to find anything during the brief 6 months I was living up your way.

As I said Reloaded will be the biggest in the country to date http://www.reloadedlan.com/ and quite a lot of people from Melbourne are going to be attending. Although you'd be up for a longer trip. Reloaded is using halls at the Adelaide showgrounds so it's going to be rather big.

Sounds epic, wish I could go. :/

I'll probably on the SALanning forums and ask around for Bris suggestions, or just go wild on Google; thanks.
