Whenever I get near water in HL2 (I'm on the Water Hazard chapter), the game skips every two secxonds or so. It seems to me that this is when the water's wave animation is cycling, but I don't know what to do about it. My specs are in my bio.
Thank you.

please

:( any help would be greatly appreciated as this is hampering my enjoyment of this amazing game.
BTW, the graphics are fine any other time; beautiful as always.

The water is a major issue on HL2. What happens on the minimum settings?

Sorry I was impatient before.
ASUS P4-R800-VM mobo, P4 2.8 Ghz w/ HT, onboard Radeon 9100 IGP, 512mb DDR400 Kingston/V-Tech RAM, Hitachi 7200 RPM 80GB Deskstar IDE (on Ultra DMA) HDD.
Game at 800x600 with model detail medium, oversampling off, texture medium, filtering Bilinear, water with simple reflections, shader level high, shadow detail low, V-sync off.

seems related to the stutter bug... its not your computers problem seemingly.. its probably funky compatability issues, the game seems unstable on certain configurations, memory related from all the complaints about similar playing problems... try adjusting your heap size, like everyone else has tried.. for some it helped.. search for similar lag related problem threads, there should be plenty of info in there. and help over at the steampowered.com forums.

onboard graphic chipset?! ;(
try reducing shader details, anyway don't expect big performance improvements...

I know

Okay, I'll check that out. And I know, I know, that's my next upgrade(I'm saving for a Radeon 9600 SE or XT)
