I've never really been a huge fan of the genre, but recently i've become aware of a group from Perth that make some pretty funky DnB tracks.

Has anyone heard of Pendulum?

Check out 'Hold your Colour' and 'Spiral' - also great music to drive fast to. Before I get attacked by 1001 flame posts, I know DnB isnt most peoples cup'o tea. I guess it's just the marmite effect.

The like the album. The actual song is meh. Fasten just happens to be one of my favorites.

pendulum are ass, ****ing overproduced "pop dnb" of somesort.. laughable, lacks any kind of soul associated with dnb.. the track you posted isn't even drum n bass.

most dnb kicks ass however.. liquid longue at dnbradio.org is quality shit.. logistics, dillinja, phobia, klute, high contrast, calibre, bad company, marky and his stuff with xrs, old skool photek stuff, muffler.

tried finding some good stuff on youtube but there aint that much.. heres a snippet from "more like you" by kryptic minds: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nSUm1pmYtg

darkstep ****ing owns by the way.. boh!

this track by concord dawn is pretty good, typical club track

It's just that half of Pendulum's music is so mind-numbingly uninspired and boring IMO... Stuff like "Hold Your Color" and the video above are so trite and thoughtless that I feel like killing them. That song isn't even Drum 'n Bass.

Their darker, harder material that has more bite to it is good, which allows me to forgive them. But only just.

Crazy's nailed some pretty good proper artists. Guys like Klute and Dillinja rock balls to the walls. Dieselboy's another good choice, although he seems to driving himself into a creative rut just like Aphrodite. Most of those guys practice mainly in Darkstep, Techstep, or whatever the **** you wanna call that sort of aggressive, alien variant of Jungle. But LTJ Bukem, one of the pioneers of Atmospheric DnB and largely responsible for bringing it into the mainstream (or at least as close as it will ever be) has gallons more texture, beauty, and dance-ability to his music.

I wish to make clear that my blunt language is merely my own opinion. So if anybody wants to a pick a fight over it, please leave me alone. :)

this track kicks ass. great hoover sounds. :D

this track by vsnares is pretty good, but it's not really typical dnb.. insane artist

I like a lot of Pendulum tracks, but I'm not a massive DnB fan.. I think they're more pop-DnB

Blood Sugar is their best song, proper tune.

Other band wise, Concord Dawn are pretty cool..

yeah that song is quite good badger, i heard it live last summer. :)

Drill 'n Bass... Breakcore... Yeah, whatever. Definitely on the "insane" end of the spectrum. Hell, throw in some gabber too. I could have sworn I've a heard a few tracks from him that might as well be.

"When I cut your neck, I leave a little piece of skin so your head won't fall off."

I like Drum and Bass, but I don't like Pendulum that much, save a few songs. CrazyH and Absinthe pretty much said it all.

I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be like that.

Or is that the problem you have with it?

lol Concord Dawn, play every second week where im from. Good DnB tho, really gets ya going.

I was a big fan of DJ Hive (some might know ultrasonic Sound and the wonderful album Devious Methods) but since he turned Jungle ive gone off it. I highly recommend for Devious Methods though for some heavily hip hop influenced DnB with a wee bit o' Jungle thrown in there. Great stuff

Devious Methods is an awesome album and any self-respecting DnB fan should get it.

I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be like that.

Yes that's why I said "why do they **** it up"

It's kind of neat but IMO doesn't fit at all with the song, I don't view that song as glitch music.

Fair enough. Although you do realize it's "he" as opposed to "they".

as far as i've gathered, vsnares dont do things the conventional way

Ewww. I'm not into the random chordless hippyshit you're posting, Harij. I like some DnB and jungle, but only the stuff with a decent tune to it (or at least a decent bassline). Fasten your Seatbelt is quality if you play it ****ing loudly with the bass up. Specially if you're going over 100.

darkstep producers are ****ing brilliant at synthesizing bass, i tell you it's not easy to do proper growling stuff. chordless? lol. it's far harder to make stuff with attitude than melody.. and it sounds better to in DNB's sake. dnb is all about nasty bass and rogue breakbeats, not z3ta+ and ultra-clean snares.

fasten your seatbelt is decent but too slow, and too poppy.. if youre going 100+ dont you want fast stuff? fasten your seatbelt is more slow clownstep for bouncing with the chavvers

this is my favourite dnb track of all time, probably because of nostalgic reasons because it's pretty cheesy :P it's quite melodic though, and a good driving track.

What's random? "Fasten Your Seat Belt" is not DnB. Or at the very most, it's the most watered-down, far-removed iteration of it I've ever heard. "Clownstep" is such an amazingly appropriate word for this kind of stuff.

If you want DnB with kick to it, then listen to Darkstep, Darkcore, or Techstep. Decent basslines? Arguably the largest focus in these genres is getting bass that rumbles, growls, and seemingly barks at you. If you can't appreciate it as anything more than atonal, then I don't know what to say. If you want good tunes and melodies, go for some quality artists like LTJ Bukem, Roni Size, or Photek on the atmospheric/jazzstep/neurofunk end of things.

Or, I dunno. Get some Aphrodite and subject yourself to the endless derivative Jump-Up crap he produces. Him and Pendulum seem to be running through the same vein.
