Premise - DS RPG creator game. After using Enterbrain's products (RPG Maker 2003, XP, VX) and realising they're all a pain in the ass, I came up with this.

WATCH VIDEO

  • 3D graphics - DQ 9 level.
  • RPG's shareable online. (Limited by DS memory. PC version would be better but might not sell.)
  • WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get). Click/drag everything around.
  • Cutscene editor.
  • Conversation editor using building blocks.
  • Tons of pre-made events for beginners.
  • Simple coloured building-block pseudocode for easy creation of new events.
  • Advanced mode for very complex events/switches/variables/etc possible.

Would you buy it if it was capable of AAA quality games?

Interesting idea, and nice video. I'd buy it if I wanted to make an RPG. (I've used RPG Maker in the past)

Sounds like a good idea. I never really managed to make my own RPG's using 2003 and XP, because it took FAR too long to get everything set up as I wanted it, and by that time I got bored. I was going to wait for RPGMaker 3D, as I had good ideas for it, but either Enterbrain never released it, or it never got translated, which sucks.

Also if it could have an inbuilt pixel editor, that would allow for some crazy inventive games.

I'd get it to mess around with and play other people's creations.

DSi? What does the DSi have to do with it?

But a DS game isn't going to use the extra memory unless it was a game designed for the DSi, which you didn't make any mention of.

I think he just meant "get a DS" but said DSi because that's the latest model. But saying it like that implies that the game can't run on a regular DS. Hence my confusion. A DSi is still a DS, and this is just a DS game, so just say DS.

/Vegeta explains in a second post what he already knew in the first post but didn't say because he wanted to rape thecowsaysmoo

I always do that, bro.

And here's what I wanted to say in my first reply to the thread:

This is interested to me because it involves:

  1. Nintendo DS
  2. Pixel Art
  3. Game Making
  4. Flash (at least the presentation video)

And I'm interested in all of those things.

Do you know anything about the DS? It absolutely does "have online", in both playing multiplayer matches and sharing content.

Neat.

Nice Tales of Phantasia sprite rip. Love that game. :)

I know it has wi-fi for DS' within the vicinity of yours (I use it quite a bit), but I didn't think it was able to connect to an online server or that it has the capabilities of the DSi, which is what I thought he meant by online. I guess you could connect to a friend's DS and share content, ala Scribblenauts.

Uhm, no. Every version of the DS has wifi compatibilities for internet play. Not just local. Local wireless has nothing to do with wifi anyway.

The only thing new the DSi does regarding online stuff is the new marketplace thing. Not necessary for what Stardog needs. (and I'm not sure if a third party developer could even do anything with the DSi marketplace, I think it's for Nintendo only)

I've only used the online for long bus rides to regattas with friends, so I'm pretty much clueless about this.
