Dual Channel ram?

I have 2X1gb sticks atm. I have 4 ram slots on my mother board. 2 Orange and 2 Yellow. The 2 Orange are right next to each other and the 2 yellow are right next to each other. To activate dual channel, do i put the ram in the same color slots? Or do i put them one in orange, and one in yellow? The computer reads 2 gbs, but idk if its dual channel
