I couldn't think of a good title for this thread, but this isn't a "which is better" thread. I'm just curious. I had to download the Dual Core Optimizer from AMDs site for my X2 so I could play alot of games. Mainly Need For Speed Most Wanted. I remember trying to play, but whenever the graphics got a bit intense, the game would speed up to at least 2x normal speed. I know that sounds crazy, I just don't understand. So I'd be going 1.5x's regular speed, jump up to 2, down to 1, up to 2, down to 1.5. It was insane.

Well, I downloaded the optimizer, and that fixed every problem I was having with EVERY game. I'm just wondering if I'll need to be doing this with the Core 2 Duo...If I ever do plan on changing processors, I want to know if I need to start looking for that program.

As far as I'm aware, the Core 2 Duo series is barely-to-surprisingly better than comparable AthlonX2 processors, depending on the application. And also as far as I'm aware they don't have that optimization problem, I've only ever heard of that occurring on Athlon dualcore systems.

Nope the core2duo (or quad) chips don't have that problem.

no problems with a C1D and a C2D here. never had any that could have been related to that.

The issue is actually with how windows handles threads. I am unsure why Core does not have the issue. Many X2 users don't need the optimizer either. Maybe the X2's cache system is different enough where MS's API cause an issue in some cases (guessing).

Lol nice try. Try any other benchmark and the core2quad and/or duo will be on top.

Whitezero is not linking you to any specific benchmark. Itunes just happens to be the first one that comes up. Same if you navigate to CPU Charts yourself.

And he isn't asking AMD vs Intel performance. Thx ;)
