I just crumbled and purchased a new PC, a with 3Ghz Dual Core processor, and Dual Nvidia 7900's, and 2Gb of RAM (im a LITTLE excited)...

Having never looked at Dual Core processors before, what should I notice different (from my 2.56Ghz!)? If theres 2 does that mean its running at 6Ghz? Cos that seems a little woooah. Will things like encoding video, and backing up DVDs be quicker?

Also, the 7900's, if im running 2 (SLI), does that mean i can connect up 2 DVI TFT screens?

Dual core is not the same as multiplying the clock speed of a single core. It makes it possible to handle more applications/processes at the same time. Not every application is dual core aware though. but in encoding DVD's you should notice a lot of difference.

SLI doesn't mean that you can hook up 2 separate TFT's (well, you could) . Most high end VGA cards already have dual dvi connectors. SLI means more and better performance (not twice as much though)

But if i have 2 graphics cards with DVI ports, can I hook up 2 TFT screens and stretch my desktop over both?

SLI actually does not support multiple displays. You would have to have SLI disabled for for multiple monitors to work.
Otherwise you can easily plug in multiple monitors and Windows XP will let you span your desktop. You have to go to display properties and enable the 2nd monitor.

Thanks,

I was asking as the special offer i had used included a free 19" TFT, but i already have a really nice 17" TFT with DVI. So instead of the 19" analogue, i was going for a 17" with DVI (so that i can span my desktop).

Seeing as i cant span my desktop AND have SLI, im going for the 19" and might sell either that, or my 17", depending on which i prefer.

Cant wait to get it now :) But oh my god am i gonna cry when i see next months credit card statement. :(
