Friends specs.

p4 3.00GHz
512MB
Intel 82865G Graphics Controller
Motherboard: Dell Computer Corp.
model 0K8979
his mobo is also only PCI (not pci-e)

He got this monitor:

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...&sku=20053YR&category_id=4009&c=us&l=en&cs=19

he is trying to run that monitor with another for browsing/media.

What GFX card does he need to get?
Will his PCI only card even run that monitor at its max?

thx for the info, need a fast response!

A link on newegg for a card would be appreciated.

you more or less just need a video card with 2 outputs, commonly being vga and dvi; so, most people just get a dvi-to-vga adapter and plug the 2 monitors onto the same video card.

you could probably find a kind of new, or not so new pci card from nvidia or ati which has 2 outputs, but it will most likely be a bit out of date, slow and expensive.

you can also try using 2 video cards, but this is alot harder.

You can also run dual monitors by simply adding a PCI card with one video output as long as your onboard can remain on. Many buisnesses run just multiple ATI 7000 PCI cards for dual monitor although I would recommend a better card. =p

If both video cards used are the same brand you do get more control from the drivers with the special options other than resolution and refreshrate for both monitors.

btw i forgot to add he doesnt play any games. So the power of the card doesnt matter, just needs to be able to run the monitor good.
