i mainly want to use another monitor so i can deal with windows stuff (music, IMing, email) on one monitor and use the other whilst i have the game up.
You can have it display on the other monitor and the game won't cover it up since it is full screen on the 1st. BUT you can't just click over there without the full-screen game minimizing. My brother plays CSS in windowed mode so he can go back and forth very easily (it doesn't minimize when windowed).
full screen game on monitor#1, website on #2
In this picture, if I put my cursor in the webpage and wanted to write a response then the game would minimize as soon as I clicked.
just that it takes ****ing 30 seconds to get tf2 back, and its annoying when people IM me telling me how terrible their day was and im like **** YOUR MISERY THEY HAVE THE GOD DAMN INTEL AND IM THE ONLY ONE STANDING IN THEIR WAY
I like having it anyways, since I can read how miserable their day was, while enjoying myself by playing a game and not responding to them. Its the simple things in life that make it worth living.
I kept trying to do two monitors and it's just a pain in the ass.
If you had like 2 main programs up all day - for work or something, it would be fine. But switching tasks, and moving things around, and things opening on the wrong monitor, or not displaying correctly, etc.
I gave up.
What I'm going to do is upgrade the computer I have now and with the old parts I'll be able to finish another PC. (besides I need to upgrade anyway.)
Two PC's - Two monitors
hooked up with either a crossover cable or through a workgroup switch through the ethernet ports, so they can share files.
- for example documents, music files, movies, devices like my printer & scanner, etc, would be accessible from either PC, and I don't need redundant data on both PC's.
That way I can:
play a game, while having internet open
play music while the other computer is being used to render, compress, convert, decompress, scan files - lengthy and intensive CPU hog stuff without leaving me without computer access
boobs on both monitors.
play a movie on one, while surfing or whatever.
download a fix for the other computer if one of them gets messed up and stops working right.
Rip a disc on one, and rip a disc on the other. (movie/music)
burn more than one thing at a time
burn a disc while the other computer is doing something intensive. (risk failure if you burn while doing a lot of other stuff)
it can take 5 hours to convert a DVD to avi for example.
