i got half life 2 collectors edition as a gift, and i do not currentley have an internet connection on the computer i could play it on. i have another pc that has an internet connection, but dosn't meet specks. so my question is could i regester/update the game on one computer and then move the updated files to the other? if not is there any other solution?

well... you could do that... but you'd need an internet connection... even for just a sec to at least log in to steam... then you can run it in offline mode. but ya, i think that would work.

Yeah what you can do is install steam and the games on the computer with internet, then log in once and exit steam. Then if you have something large enough to transfer the data on, say an external HD or large Mp3 player, you can grab the entire steam folder (including steam.exe and all the files in with it) and move it to the other computer.

Exactly as the guys said above, however the steam on your computer without the internet connection must have steam logged in (online) for a few seconds, then you put it into offline mode and pull the plug on the connection. You needn't worry about the files if you use Dekstar's advice.
