Dummy or not?

Sorry guys but I cannot figure out how to open the console in CS:S!
I've checked the option under Keys/Advanced but it's not working!!!!!! HELP ME!!!!
The "~" key does nothing! I've an italian layout but never had this problem with cs 1.5/1.6!
Now, when I join an internet server, the console opens by default and I'm able to do qhatever I want but...playing online...I REALLY CANNOT OPEN IT!!!

Please...someone...help a little angry HL2 buyer!

First off, no need to be angry man

I´lll help you get it working...

• Open steam and login (if its not already running)

• RIGHT-CLICK Counter-Strike: Source and click Properties. Click Launch Options and type -console.

• Run CS:S. Go to Options and then Keyboard, followed by Advanced... Now click Enable Developer Console (§) and then click OK. Exit CS:S.

• Open explorer and browse to Valve\Steam\SteamApps\user\counter-strike source\cstrike\cfg. Replace "user" with your own STEAM account name. There you will find config.cfg and mabe a autoexec.cfg if you are into cfg-tweaking and such. If you don´t have autoexec.cfg, create it.

• Open autoexec.cfg and add bind "\" "toggleconsole". Save and exit.

Now you should have console when u run the game, and will also have it right in your face when u press the usual console key.
If this, against odds don´t work for you... just change bind "\" "toggleconsole" into whatever key you want instead for bringing down console.

But whatever you do, DON`T remove the original bind in CS:S for the console. This will make your game hang up and complain about not being able to read memory.
