Hey everyone,
I just purchased a used version of Half Life 2. And it's giving me a duplicate CD-Key error. It was probably a bad idea to buy a used version, But I really wanted the game and I'm broke but anyway. Is there any solution to this problem? Should I tell the seller to unistall the game from there computer or will that not work? Please don't flame me for this.
Thanks,
Fred

just ask him for your money back and buy it retail or on steam. dont bother hassling with valve about this.

Thanks, I didn't think valve would really help me anyway lol

Well they can reset it.

No, they can't. At least not in the sense that would help you any. If you've a duplicate cd key, then resetting it and attaching it to a new account would be just a waste of your time. You'll need to either get your money back and/or buy a new copy.

Steam Keys are permanently bound to the Steam Account they are activated on.

If you've bought a HL2 key from someone you've either been deliberately ripped off or they didn't realise that keys can't be moved from one account to another (this being the exception but it only applies to Retail-Bought Keys).

I don't know how much you paid for your used (aka worthless) HL2 but get your money back and get it via retail or Steam ($20).
